7 Things to consider when installing GIB WEATHERLINE® – Rigid Air Barrier Systems
01. Weather Exposure
- Once installed, GIB Weatherline® sheets and tapes can be exposed to exterior weather for up to 6 months before cladding installation.
- Prior to installation, store GIB Weatherline® sheets in a dry area.
02. Sheet Installation
- GIB Weatherline® sheets must be installed with a ventilated cavity system.
- Overhang bottom plate by at least 15mm on concrete slabs.
- Maintain clearance to paved/unprotected ground per NZS 3604 and E2/AS1.
- Follow specified spacing and fixing patterns for the chosen system from the GIB Weatherline® Installation Manual.
03. Fasteners
- Use only GIB Weatherline® ceramic-coated screws when fixing sheets.
Fastener sizes:
– Timber: 41mm x 6g or 63mm x 8g
– Steel: 32mm x 8g or 47mm x 8g
04. GIB Weatherline® Tapes
- Use GIB Weatherline® Flashing & Sill Tapes to cover sheet joins, fastener heads & to seal around window and door openings.
- Tape sizes:
– Flashing Tapes: 30mm, 60mm, 100mm, 150mm
and 200mm
– Sill Tapes: 150mm & 200mm
05. GIB Weatherline® Tape Sequencing
- Where possible, seal horizontal sheet joints first then
vertical joints. - Apply 30mm tape over mid-sheet vertical and top/
bottom plate fasteners.
06. Penetrations
- Use Proclima Kaflex or Roflex seals for pipe and
general penetrations
