Calling all construction project managers! Keen to increase productivity? Achieve safer, higher quality work outcomes?

New Zealand Institute of Builders, in partnership with CARTERS, is delivering training for project managers looking to develop smarter ways of working.

Workshops will be held on July 31 in Auckland, and August 1 in Christchurch, where participants will learn from industry experts Geoff Nash and Karsten Thomsen. Find out how you can provide more certainty for all stakeholders, fewer delays, and a fairer claims process when something goes wrong.

Entitled, Programme Management: Programmes, first principle thinking, and practical solutions, the events will explore productivity, safety and quality of work. Subject matter expert Karsten Thomsen has over 30 years' experience in project management. In his presentation Karsten will cover:

  • Psychology
  • Science and Physics
  • NZS3910
  • The NZ Building Act
  • Quality
  • Health, Safety and Environment

Geoff Nash, CEO of Brosnan, will be presenting on Brosnan’s programme governance. Brosnan remediates, upgrades, refurbishes, and maintains existing buildings throughout New Zealand. Geoff will cover why programmes have been a priority, discuss the journey they have been on, and explain how the programme work has been set up.

His talk will include the programme policy, training guides, templates, internal reports and client Project Control Group meeting reporting, and the impact these changes have had on Brosnan's operations. Additionally, he will address the challenges these changes have brought and reveal how Brosnan continually monitors the quality of the programmes through project reviews, internal programme reviews, training, and focus group discussions.

As Brosnan’s CEO, Geoff has pioneered a vision of restoring confidence in construction. As a joinery apprentice, he completed a National Diploma in Construction Management and won back-to-back Master Joiners Apprentice Awards. He went on to continue his education, completing a National Diploma in Quantity Surveying, a Bachelor of Construction, an Executive MBA and is now a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.  Geoff won the NZ Institute of Building's Young Achievers Award in 2018.

Who is this for?
