Fun on the fairways came about for a serious cause as golfers took to the course to raise funds for Melanoma New Zealand, in collaboration with CARTERS.
The CARTERS Charity Golf Day swung into action with a purpose far beyond the greens, continuing its partnership with Melanoma New Zealand to build a future free from Melanoma. Blue skies and sun called for plenty of sunscreen, hats and shade seeking as 92 golfers took to the course in Auckland on Thursday 27 March.
“We’re absolutely thrilled and humbled with the funds raised, which will directly support Melanoma New Zealand’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the risks of melanoma and help us provide support for patients and their family members,” said Andrea Newland, Chief Executive, Melanoma New Zealand.
With those of us who work outside experiencing 10 times more UV exposure than indoor workers, tradies and all construction professionals are among the hardest hit when it comes to skin damage and related health issues. That is why CARTERS partners with Melanoma New Zealand to help take the lead on skin damage prevention and early detection, with this latest collaboration raising more funds for the charity.
On the course, several holes had sponsor activations to make the day enjoyable with challenges and even Mr Whippy to serve up a cold one. Thanks to our Gold Sponsors; GIB, James Hardie and G.J Gardner Homes, as well as Silver Sponsors Allied Concrete, Kingspan |Thermakraft, Yoogo, and Event Partners South Auckland Motors and Bayleys for helping put on a stellar event.
With two teams tied for first place at the end of the day, it was decided a putt-off was the means by which to settle the battle for top honours. Team CARTERS Panmure were victorious thanks to their putting prowess. Congratulations to the winning team, Avi Chandra (CARTERS), Scott Thrup (Ninety 45 Ltd), Josh Crampton (Cedar Construction) and Richard Wilkinson (WBC Ltd).
As part of the prize giving, a charity live auction was held with some Money-can’t-buy items up for grabs to support the cause, run by Bayleys Auctioneer Justin Haley, who really got the crowd going.
Last year, CARTERS began a ‘Prevent, Check, Protect,’ campaign, sharing education and offering spot checks at some of our trade events around the country in partnership with Melanoma New Zealand. Our ‘Spot On or a Bit Off?’ guide to doing a self-check is a great resource to add to your tradie toolkit too. A guide to self skin checks
