Building on regional success at Constructive 2025

1 August 2025

Industry gearing up for Constructive this September after a series of successful regional summits.

Over the past few months, the first-ever series of Regional Constructive Summits were held across New Zealand. Organised by Master Builders, the events were a pre-cursor to the Constructive main summit this September.

Master Builders Chief Executive Ankit Sharma was delighted the series provided an opportunity to learn but to build valuable connections within the industry. He said, “While each summit tackled the unique challenges and opportunities of its region, what stood out most in the feedback I heard was something more personal: the value of connection and reflection.

“Talking to other business owners, people who face similar pressure, risks, and responsibility, can be powerful. Even though we often compete, in forums like these we find common ground. We realise we are not alone in the challenges we face.”

Sharma said the regional summits, held across seven regions this winter involved conversations that ‘sparked new thinking’. “And sometimes, we just feel a little more normal knowing others are going through the same highs and lows,” he said.

"“A strong building business is not just about working in the business; it is about working on the business. The summits gave people space to take a step back, reflect, and refocus on what really matters. That is what makes good builders into great business leaders.”

Sharma says Master Builders are now building on that energy and insight to prepare for Constructive 2025, its national industry summit, taking place on 11–12 September at the Aotea Events Centre in Auckland.

This year’s conference promises to be more dynamic and action-focused than ever, he says. It will feature:

  • Former Prime Minister Sir John Key on bipartisan infrastructure strategies
  • International keynote speaker Nigel Collin on embedding innovation through small steps
  • Raelene Castle, CEO of Sport NZ, on leading under pressure

“We will also bring back the Innovation Showcase and expand our breakout sessions to make sure there is something for every business, no matter your size or region,” says Sharma.

“We look forward to seeing you there and continuing the conversations that help us all build better, together.”

CARTERS are proud to be a Gold Sponsor of Constructive, an event designed to bring the entire supply chain together, from Government, finance, land, design and build, and key enabling sectors such as research, training, and regulation to work together and identify ways to lift performance across the residential and commercial construction sectors.
