Bright sunshine boosted bowling efforts by construction industry professionals who gathered across New Zealand centres this summer.
Back to Work Bowls competitions brought teams together from across the construction sector for some summer fun and reconnection. With CARTERS-sponsored events across Whangārei, Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown, the cross-country competition and camaraderie were high at this NZIOB organised get togethers.
“Our annual lawn bowls events around the motu are a great way to start of the year off right by getting together in the setting summer sun. It gives regions a relaxed social event where fun, and connection comes first,” said NZIOB organisers.
This event was first run in Auckland in 2022 and, since then, it has grown to several events around the country. This year, the number of teams entered across the seven events grew from 77 teams to 129 teams - a 67% increase from 2024. The number of overall participants across the seven events grew from 310 to 516, and the number of companies represented across the country grew from 62 to 100, an impressive 61.3% increase from 2024.
Among the events held was the Queenstown Bowling Club-hosted spectacle, bringing together over 100 design, cost, engineering, architectural, and construction professionals for a casual yet high-energy networking opportunity. Celebrated under clear blue skies, with a laid-back beach dress code, the event embodied both friendly competition and community spirit.
With 24 teams on the green, the stakes were high, and the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie, laughter, and a fierce desire to claim victory. Sunshine, a cold drink in hand, and a good game were the perfect recipe for a memorable afternoon in Queenstown.
After several rounds of strategic play and fun-filled moments, the winners emerged – taking first place was the Naylor Love team.
