The time has come once again for emerging industry talent to step forward - it's the start of the 2024 Registered Master Builders’ Apprentice of the Year journey.

Who will take the keys to the CARTERS-sponsored ute from 2023 winner Jack Nevines come the national finals in November? It all starts now. Aspiring applicants are asked to throw their hats in the ring for the annual competition, with this year's deadline for entrants on April 12.

Practical assessments will once again start in June across the country for the CARTERS-backed annual award, which aims to recognise excellence among carpentry apprentices and raise awareness of career opportunities in the building and construction industry.

Regional judging and interviews will begin in July, with regional awards events held through August and September. National judging and proceeding awards ceremony is set to take place in November.

Registered Master Builders encourages apprentices to get amongst it.

"AS AN APPRENTICE, YOU ARE THE SECTOR’S FUTURE LEADERS. THE COMPETITION WILL TEST YOUR PROJECT MANAGEMENT, BUSINESS AND PRESENTATION SKILLS, AS WELL AS PRACTICAL SKILLS."

"This competition is open to ALL carpentry apprentices of ALL ages – and you don’t have to work for a Master Builder or be trained by a specific training provider."

There is extra incentive to apply this year, with a CARTERS prize pack for every entrant. The package, valued at $85, includes a CARTERS charcoal-coloured hoodie, T-shirt, charcoal tradie socks and bucket hat.

Entries for the 2024 competition opened on 8 March 2024 and will close on 12 April 2024.
